Kitchen and bathroom remodelling projects are among the top priorities for homeowners in the US considering renovations to their properties, a new survey has revealed. The country’s National Association of Home Builders said the amount of kitchen and bathroom projects was up by 17 per cent compared with two years ago, indicating that more people are visiting kitchen showrooms like these and thinking about how to improve their homes.
Other popular categories included window and door replacements, room additions and whole house remodels. Additionally, the motivations behind having work done have changed, with more than 20 per cent of respondents reporting a decrease in the number of people remodelling to increase the value of their property. Meanwhile, more than half said the desire for upgraded amenities in a home had increased, and more than 60 per cent saw a rise in demand for repairs and replacements of old components.
“As the priorities of home owners shift, remodelers have to adjust to the needs of their clients,” said George Moore Jr, chairman of the NAHB Remodelers. “And while the motivation behind a homeowner’s decision to remodel may have changed, their desire for quality, professional results have not. Professional remodelers remain committed to the highest industry standards.”
